A Passive House (Passivhaus) is a construction standard that was developed by Professors Bo Adamson of Sweden and Wolfgang Feist of Germany in the early 1990’s.
In a passive house, the focus is on building a structure that is highly insulated, airtight and that uses passive energy, including solar for heating, hot water and electricity.
The Passive house building standard has been utilized successfully in commercial, industrial and public buildings as well as in domestic dwellings world-wide.
